INT. BAIT-AND-SWITCH CAFÉ - DUSK

Genevieve and Yui shuffle into the café. Yui takes a seat to catch her breath, meanwhile, Genevieve runs into the kitchen.

YUI
Viv, what are you doing?

Genevieve walks back with a cooler packed with fish and places it on the counter. She goes back in to get more food.

YUI (CONT'D)

Viv?

Genevieve comes back out once more.

GENEVIEVE
I’m packing all the food we’ll need to last us the trip. I also need to pack the boat and get it ready to sail.

YUI
Ok, can I do anything to help?

Genevieve pauses.

GENEVIEVE
You can pack some clothes. My room is on the second level, first door to the left. I don’t think any of my stuff will fit you so...you can try Daddy’s closet. If you don’t mind.

Yui walks over and places her hand atop of Genevieve’s.

YUI
I got it, you just do what you need to do.

Genevieve nods her head and grabs the containers filled with fish off the counter and moves to load them on the seiner.

EXT. AJANI'S SEINER - NIGHT

The sky went from violet to red again, the moon ablaze and bright in the sky. The thrum of the boat’s engine roared loudly as the seiner sailed across murky ocean waters. Genevieve was at the stern managing the speed and direction while Yui sat silently and looked up at the sky.

GENEVIEVE

It’s okay, y’know?

Yui kept staring at the sky.

YUI

What is?

GENEVIEVE
Me. I mean, I’m obviously not okay, but I’m starting to understand that he needed to go.

Yui looked over at Genevieve.

GENEVIEVE (CONT'D)
When I was talking to him...it was like he had already given up. There was no fight in his eyes. He could finally rest and maybe see my mother again. I...I want that for him. For them to be together.

Yui looked back to the sky, smiling.

YUI
That would be nice.

GENEVIEVE

Yeah.

The seiner suddenly lurched and both of feet. Genevieve was the first to get up the boat again.

YUI

What’s happening!?

GENEVIEVE
I don’t know, it’s like we’re pulled back or something. I’m going as fast as I can.

Yui finally got to her feet, steadying herself. She looked behind Genevieve and her face contorted in despair. She pointed.

YUI

Viv, look.

Genevieve followed the direction of Yui’s finger and her face fell. The massive tsunami the man warned them about before was here.

GENEVIEVE

Yui! Yui!

Genevieve slowed the boat down and Yui stumbled to Genevieve’s side. Genevieve held Yui as the wave came closer. Tears began to stream down her face.

GENEVIEVE (CONT'D)

Yui, I’m so sorry.

Yui kissed the side of Genevieve’s head, smiling sadly.

YUI
It’s okay, Viv. It’s okay.
