Genevieve and Yui are waiting, they’re both covered in dirt. The initial emergency broadcast is interrupted, prompting both of them to stare at the radio intently.

INSERT - LOCAL NEWS BROADCAST

Hello? Hello? Um, Good evening, my name is Mariana Cortez, your news reporter today. I know everyone is scared and feeling hopeless right now, but I bring good news! While our disaster shelter isn’t on the island, there are ships already docked prepared to take everyone to the shelter on the mainland. The ships are scheduled to leave by 3:00 pm tomorrow, so I urge everyone to quickly and safely make their way to the island’s main docks. Again, I–

Genevieve turns the radio off. She goes back to her sitting position, staring at nothing. Yui looks at her worriedly.

YUI

Viv.

Genevieve doesn’t respond.

YUI (CONT'D)
Viv, we...we need to go. I know

right now, you’re dealing with a lot, but your dad–

​

Genevieve looks up at Yui sharply.

YUI (CONT'D)

out. That’s what he said, didn’t he?

Yui shuffles over to Genevieve, eyes squarely on her face.

YUI (CONT'D)
We have to keep moving. Or else, he

died for nothing.

 

Yui pauses.

YUI (CONT'D)
Can you get up for me, Viv?

​

A long silence pervades. They stay in the same spots. Genevieve staring at nothing and Yui staring at her. Then, Genevieve speaks.
